Providers at Community Care Cooperative and Boston Accountable Care Organization to Benefit From Access to Specialty Expertise
MAVEN Project is expanding their presence in Massachusetts thanks to new partnerships with the Boston Accountable Care Organization (BACO) and Community Care Cooperative (C3).
“MAVEN Project is proud to partner with the Boston Accountable Care Organization and Community Care Cooperative to provide much-needed assistance to frontline clinics throughout Massachusetts, shared David Segal, CEO of MAVEN Project. “The dedicated professionals who provide care to the most vulnerable individuals across Massachusetts now have fast access to world-class physicians in more than 60 specialties, who can do everything from consult on specific cases to support leadership goals.”
MAVEN Project is addressing social, racial and economic inequities in health care through rapid access to high-quality specialty care. The nonprofit connects frontline providers with a network of physician volunteers who develop relationships with and empower primary care providers with the knowledge and confidence to treat complex patients in their medical home.
With the addition of BACO and C3, MAVEN Project now partners with two dozen clinic operators in Massachusetts, representing 65 clinic sites and more than 400,000 patients.
C3 is a non-profit federally qualified health center-governed Accountable Care Organization (ACO) and Shared Services Company doing business nationally. Christina Severin, C3’s president and CEO noted that “Aligning with MAVEN Project will be an important way to improve access to specialty services for patients and caregivers. Quick access to high-quality specialty consults through MAVEN Project is really important, and we are equally excited about the clinical mentoring and continuing education that MAVEN Project affords.”
As one of the largest Medicaid providers in Massachusetts, BACO Medical Director Jason Worcester, MD, shared that “Increasing access to specialty care for our patients will be much simpler with MAVEN Project. Our providers will benefit from their depth and breadth of experience, while also receiving much appreciated professional development. We couldn’t be more excited.”
MAVEN Project’s full suite of telehealth services includes medical specialty consultations, 1:1 mentoring and ongoing educational opportunities, all delivered by expert volunteers in more than 60 specialties, who provided thousands of case consults last year. Three out of four of these consults eliminated the need for an outside referral, saving patients the long wait times and high costs associated with outside specialty care – particularly important for those patients who lack health insurance. Volunteer physicians draw on an average of 35+ years of experience; they also offer hundreds of hours of mentoring and countless more on continuing medical education annually.
