Dr. Michael LaCombe is the immediate past president of the Harvard Medical School Alumni Council, and is an associate editor of the Annals of Internal Medicine. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Internal Medicine, on the Board of Regents of the American College of Physicians, and on the advisory board of the Maine Scholar.
He has practiced medicine in Maine for 37 years and is currently in the cardiology division of Maine General Medical Center, Augusta, Maine. Dr. LaCombe is also Professor of Medicine/Medical Humanities at the University of New England and has been a visiting professor at over sixty major universities throughout the world. He was named an Alpha Omega Alpha Visiting Professor six times and was honored by the American College of Physicians with the prestigious Davies Award for Scholarly Activities in the Humanities, and by the University of Southern Maine with the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa. He has published over 100 pieces of fiction and 12 books. He has been a strategic advisor and champion of The MAVEN Project since its inception.
