Direct Relief Series: A Clinical Approach to Opioid Addiction – July 15, 2022

This presentation will review the latest standard-of-care approaches to the screening, diagnosis and management of opioid use disorders that are expected of primacy care providers. Topics of focus will include the use of medication assisted treatments such as buprenorphine and naltrexone and how primary care providers can actually implement them. Practical strategies on how to identify and manage clients with opioid use disorders and how to distinguish these cases from chronic pain or active psychiatric conditions will be reviewed. This presentation will provide clinicians with a roadmap on how to more efficiently and effectively manage opioid use disorders while minimizing further stigmatization of the disorder.
